In this image, three of the four red "towers" within the monastery complex are visible. The fourth is out of the picture to the right. The monastery is quite large, and upon leaving the main square, one enters a maze of lanes and alleys. The tangy scent of burning juniper wafts from outdoor burners, and inside the buildings, incense and yak butter smoke fill the air. This image scanned a bit dark, but I have not (yet) attempted to restore its original look.
